Changing house code settings

Each Lifestyle® system remote uses a house code that corresponds to the house code set in the media center, enabling the remote to communicate with the media center. If another Lifestyle® system nearby creates a conflict with your system, you can easily set a new house code in your media center and its remote control(s).

To change your remote control house code settings, follow these steps:

Make sure your Lifestyle® system is turned off

Remove the battery cover from the back of the remote

There are nine miniature switches above the batteries. There may be a clear plastic strip protecting the switches. You can remove the strip

Note: This strip cannot be reattached once it is removed, but its absence will not create any problems.

Move any of the first four switches up or down, in any combination, using a paper clip, push pin or similar object

hold the remote next to the media center. on the media center control panel, press and hold down enter. the words "house code," followed by four squares, will appear in the media center display. the squares correspond to the first four switches on the remote

continue to hold down the media center enter button and press any other button on the remote

the blocks in the display will shift to match the position of the first four switches on the remote, and the display will indicate "new house code." release the enter button

Verify that the remote works

If you have additional Lifestyle® system remotes, follow step 3, and then change the first four switches on each additional remote so their positions match the first remote

Expansion remote controls

House code settings for expansion remote controls (used to access Lifestyle® system audio from other rooms in your home) also need to correspond to the house code in the media center. To change the house code of an expansion remote control, you will need to determine the house code of the system by following these steps:

Turn the Lifestyle® system off

Lift the front panel cover on the media center

press and hold enter

The words "House Code" followed by four squares will appear in the media center display

Record the position of the squares which indicates the house code setting. You will need to change the house code of the expansion remote to match the system. Note: The default house code setting is all squares in the down position

Once the house code of the system has been determined, find the model number of the expansion remote control by looking on the back of the remote.

If the expansion remote is an RC38S2-27:

Remove the battery cover from the back of the remote and locate the nine switches above the battery compartment

Change the position of switches 1, 2, 3 and 4 using a push pin, paper clip or pen to match the position of the squares shown on the media center display (the settings of switches 5 through 9 depend on the expansion product that is connected to the media center)

Replace the battery cover

Verify the remote works
